Hey. could I get a post please? I really need some advice for a friend. She’s recently found out she’s pregnant and had to have a lot of scans and blood tests done because she was bleeding and she’d recently fractured her lower spine.
She has been told by a doctor at her hospital that she should terminate because she’d had 6 X-rays at the hospital before she found out she was pregnant (she would have been about 3 weeks) because of the effects this COULD have on the baby. I think this is ridiculous of a doctor to tell her and I’ve told her to get a second opinion. Has anyone on here had X-rays and then found out they were pregnant and what were you told/what was the outcome? Could really do with some advice before she takes the advice of a shitty doctor and does something she will regret and that maybe isn’t even something she needs to do?

The radiation from the multiple xrays is what the Dr is referring to ….I would speak with more Dr and see if it’s possible to test ect ….There is a reason they throw the lead apron over you when you get one done
I had a number of x rays when pregnant with my son not knowing I was pregnant and then once when I was 6 months pregnant and my son is 6 and I never even thought about it until this post was put up they tell you the risks are tiney and should not have advised termonation
No way. I had 3 Mri scans and a couple of xrays while I was pregnant and kept in hospital. The first one I had in the first couple of weeks if pregnancy and the others I got when I was very pregnant and I now have an extremely healthy 8 week old!
I had a x ray on my arm. I ended up being about 4 weeks pregnant when I fractured it and I never knew. My little boy is 4 and perfectly healthy. Xx
I had four xrays during my pregnancy. Most between 16-33 weeks. My daughter is thankfully fine. The xrays risk is more that the radiation they use could cause problem in the baby’s childhood. But it’s a small risk x
I had 2 MRI scans done while I was pregnant one at 10 weeks and one at 30 weeks pregnant. And they knew I was pregnant too they were both on my tummy due having placenta issues and my lg was fine a year and bit on and no effects what so ever x
I had x-rays when I was pregnant can’t remember exactly how far I was I think I was about 5-6 week and my little girls now 3 and absolutely fine
I had X-rays and I was 20+ weeks with my son. He’s now nearly 9 weeks old and he was perfectly ok xxx
