Hey lovely, can I have a private post please?
I am scheduled to go back to work end of January after maternity leave and planned to reduce my hours… however I’m a single parent and I have no child care for my son and after looking around there is no way I could afford it. I’m currently claiming universal credit (working and child tax credits) to top up my smp. What would happen to my benefits if I decided not to return to work? Would I get penalised by the government for choosing not to go back?
What is the process to all this?! I have worked since i was 18 and I’m now 24 and I have no idea how the system works.
Thankyou xx
