Hi can I get a private post please?

Ok so my husband has a 5 year old daughter with his ex. She also has a 12 year old son from another relationship. His father is not on the birth certificate and he has not seen him for years.
About a month ago the son asked my husband if he would be his adoptive dad and make it all legal. It seemed like a lovely thing to ask of him as my husband is very fond of this boy, we both are.

My concern is this the mother is well known for being out for all she can get money wise, not just from us and we are concerned if this question is only being asked so we then have to pay £300 a month maintenance for him too (that’s what we pay for the daughter). We have a child of our own and in no way could we afford to pay lots more to my husbands ex in the event he does adopt him.

Neither of these children live with us we just see them very regularly. I hope this makes sense and thank you for reading this far
