Hi can I have a pp please…

I have no contact with my children’s father, he sees the kids once a week for a few hours. He isn’t able to have them overnight or unsupervised due to a contact order set by social services. I have always claimed maintenance through CMS but a few months ago he quit his job and I haven’t received a penny since. Apparently I can still claim a small amount each week from his benefits, I don’t really need the money as my children don’t go short of anything but my family are telling me I should claim it as I receive no help emotionally or financially from him. I feel bad asking as he has another child to support with his new partner and neither of them have jobs. My children never go without anything, but the other part of me is starting to think why should I spend all my spare money on clothes, school trips, treats etc when he isn’t contributing anything. Need to add he can still afford weekends away, trips to the pub and meals out with his new family. Any advice appreciated, at the end of the day their father should want to contribute financially not be forced, and the fact that he hasn’t offered a penny in months shows he isn’t arsed. Don’t want to look like I’m begging for it either as I genuinely don’t need the money although it would mean a couple of extra treats for my kids. Thanks for reading xx
