Hi. Can I have a PP please?

I have stopped breastfeeding my 19 month old daughter (I know this is a little older than I would have liked however every time I went to stop, my daughter experienced some health problems).
Anyway, my daughter would normally feed at night, mainly for comfort. I stopped 48 hours ago and my breasts are so engorged, tender and sometimes painful.
Does anyone know how long this is likely last? I don’t want to express as I don’t want to produce more milk. Is there anything I can do to help relieve the pain? I am currently sat writing this with cabbage leaves in my bra – read that this helps. It does while the leaves are cold but that doesn’t last long. I’m also worried that my breasts are engorged that I may get mastitis.
Any advice / help would be grateful received. Thank you x

  • To prevent mastitis, hand express off just enough to take the pressure off. But only do this when they are full. Your boobs will learn that that they don’t need to produce anymore.
Maybe ask your health visitor for advice?
