Hi can I have a private post please

I’m not really sure how custody works with a child etc but I have some questions

My sons dad works full time (40 hours a week), has a car, has a mortgage on a flat and provides for me and my son.

I’m my sons main care giver, I’m currently on maternity leave (from a 4 hour a week job as when I got pregnant I was at college full time) I’m the one that puts my son to bed, wakes up to him in the night, gets him up in the morning, gives him all his bottles, gets him dressed, changes his nappies, baths him, cooks all his food, gives him his meals, plays with him, takes him out. I literally do everything for him, if he goes to his Dad he just cries and shouts mummy. Who would get custody??

The thing is I want to leave him as he emotionally abuses me and on 2 or 3 occasions physically (I have no proof of this). But I have no way at all to financially support myself or my son until I go back to work in August and hopefully get more hours! I can’t go back earlier as I have no childcare for my son until then as that’s the only time I could book him in nursery for. I feel trapped, can anyone think of a short term solution ?
