Hi, can I have a private post please?
Last weekend my son (10) & daughter (9) went to my father in laws for a sleepover, in the car on the way to he’s he said to the father in law “I better behave whilst I’m at yours or I’ll get the belt when I get home” so my father in law has questioned him and my son has told him that my partner hits him with a belt & I myself hang the belt on the bedroom door to scare them.
My father in law then said to my daughter “is this true?” And she agreed and said it was.
Father in law then got in contact with myself to discuss the matter & we agreed to go up the morning after and confront the children in front of him.
Morning after we went up, my daughter then said my partner has never hit them with a belt & got really upset for lying.
As for my son we confronted him and he still swore black and white in front of my partner that he had hit him with a belt ONCE but then later turned round and said he had got confused between my current partner and my ex husband (who did hit him with a belt on numerous occasions, and was violent towards myself, hence our split)
So..he admitted that my partner hadn’t hit him with the belt and that he had lied.
My partner is absolutely devastated, and I totally lost on the situation.
I’ve tried to talk to him and find out why he has lied, but he just doesn’t have any answers.
Sorry if my post has confused any1 I’ve tried to explain the best I can but I’m just looking for advice, what do I do? Do I punish him for lying? Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you
