Hi can I have ppp please.

Hi, I’m just needing advice about my child’s first passport. I’m in between applying for my daughters 1st passport, when she was was born she had her fathers name, few months later we split and I changed it by deed poll to my name. I’ve been to post office and there saying I need proof (a letter from school or nursery) to prove she’s a real person. She’s only just gone 2 so she has no nursery etc yet. Has anyone been in this situation and could you give me advice please? Much appreciated xx

  • I thought you just had to provide her birth certificate, the deed poll and the form has to be signed by someone who has known you for 3 years to confirm that it is your child and the form is correct etc. When I did my sons passport form (no name change) I got his form signed by my boss who had known me for quite a while and so could verify that it was my son. Didn’t need anything from his nursery x x

  • Proof she’s a real person?? Surely thats her birth cert? Just applied for my son’s first passport (he’s 5 weeks) and had to send his birth cert, my birth cert, mine and his dads passports, and have his photos countersigned by a family friend.. but then we live abroad so it might be different, but as for ‘proving shes a real person’ thats rediculous?!

  • When I did mine by deed poll,I sent the deed poll notice and my adoption certificate, and it was accepted, probably best to ring passport office and check with them

  • Surely you will have to provide a birth certificate and the deed poll notice. That should be enough along with the countasignature.

  • I know you have to send the birth certificate off so surely that and the deed pole letter would be enough proof. X
