Hi can I have some advice please I have a year old and today I had to rush her to a and e because she put her hand in my lizards cage and she grabbed him and he bit her. My lizard is very good with anyone and has never bit anyone it’s only because she pulled him. She has never managed to open the cage till now I was putting the shopping away so I was only away for a min I feel like the worst parent ever. I don’t want to get rid of my lizard as I have had him since he was a baby. Would you get rid of him or keep him. My baby comes first and I want what’s best for her but my lizard would never have done it normally. Help please I don’t know what to do.
Please don’t judge me I just need advice x

  • keep the lizard & get rid of the baby 😂😂😂 is your house not big enough to keep them apart & allow it out while she sleeps? I don’t know much about them so don’t know how much out time they need…..

  • There’s no need to get rid of the lizard. Your child scared it and it reacted. It wasn’t malicious, get a lock for the vivarium

  • My lizard attempted to nip my little girl once when she grabbed his tail, it’s just a reaction. As kids get older they’ll handle them better! For now probably best to just put a lock on the vivarium 🙂

  • She’s 1 so doesn’t understand yet. Can u put something on the “cage” to stop the baby opening it? I wouldn’t get rid of the lizard just baby proof him

  • Can’t yu not put the cage up higher and plus ain’t they supposed to be in a glass cage anyway so why not put a lock on the glass doors

  • Getting a new lock will work for a while until your baby can open it. I suggest you out the cage higher and maybe out of baby’s sight because she will climb to reach it.

  • Get a viv lock, and put the viv in a different room where your LG can’t reach. Also a lizard bite doesn’t need A&E hun (that does depend on lizard. Something like iguana does, but gecko, beardie etc doesn’t) they need a clean with salt water, anti septic cream, and a cover if blood has been drawn x

  • I wouldn’t get rid of the Lizard, maybe this will be a little lesson for her not to be rough with the lizard x

  • Do you not have a lock on your viv? There easy to attach and can pick them up from most pet stores. I got one coz I had visions of my girls letting them out and me waking up to one on my face 😂😂😂
