Hi could I have a private post please.

My 6 year old has stolen something from a shop. Was only a small pack of bubblegum sweets but obviously no matter what the fact that shes done this is wrong. I have also made sure she knows stealing is very wrong and shes never done this before (that im aware of). She only admitted it to me because she tried to say my mother had bought them for her so i said i will ring her and ask. she then changed her story and tried to tell me that the man in the shop gave them her. Again i said i would go back and ask him which then lead to her eventually telling me the truth. I had bought both my children some sweets so she had absolutely no reason to steal them. Just wondering what you think is a suitable punishment for this as explaining how serious stealing is clearly hasnt worked.
