Hi guys can you please post on page for me as I would like to stay anonymous but need advice.

I have 2 children living at home aged 8 &10, I have been in a relationship with a man who has come in and treated my children as his own for the past 12 months.

My 10year old feels unsure of how to react due to him thinking my partner is trying to replace his real dad.

I have done my best to explain and reassure him that he only has 1 mam and dad and my partner will never try to replace that.
So even if he does feel that he cares deeply for my partner or loves him as a father figure he should not feel guilty for that.

I have spoken to my partner about this and he’s now feeling very upset and is feeling insulted by my words that I would use the phrase “only has one dad” to my child when he has come in and taken on a father role to my children since the word go so to speak.

Please can someone help me with some advice on my situation please as I don’t mean to offend anyone and was trying to find a way to explain in children’s terms for my child to understand and accept this transition and change of family life.
