hi looking for advice, my partner pays his ex £200 a month for his daughter. we live in Swansea and they live in cardiff, he works long hours and most of the time only has 1 day off so we try to get up to see her as often as possible. His ex was evicted from her house (given 2 months notice) and it wasn’t until the last day of the notice she moved out into a “friends” flat as a temporary fix. He paid her for this last month but his daughter has been staying with his mother due to this flat being unsuitable to live in. The ex has now found a new house and is moving her partner in. She’s text asking for next months money early so she can pay towards the new place. I understand its for his daughter but what did she do with last months money when she didn’t have the daughter? he gave his mother extra money and she supported her for that month, taking her to school and picking her up, feeding her, making sure she had a suitable roof over her head, all the while suffering ill health herself. is it out of order for my husband to say he’s not paying her for next month?

  • No she’s gets it when shes due it sorry but its her fault she got evicted not her child and why should she use her childs money to fund her new house surely her and her partner can pay for it x

  • Personally I wouldn’t have paid for the month she didn’t have her. If she has her now he should pay up but not early. If she didn’t pay his mother for daughters care, she would have kept benefits for child also. Sounds like she just wants money and he’s the cash cow.

  • I wouldnt be giving her a penny! If she was single im guessing she claims child benefit and child tax credits so that’s roughly £320 a month. So last month she had £520 and no child to care for! Also if the new partner is moving in tell him to contribute to the new place. Sounds like shes taking the piss tbh
