Hi private post, I need advice before I drive myself crazy. My ex who I have a daughter with is a narcissist and mentally abused me through the relationship. (Daughter is one and half now) we split up about a year ago. He was really abusive towards me and scarred me for life basically , I did get a non-molestation order out on him. Fast forward to now. I’ve met somebody a few months ago and within the past 2 months things have got abit more into it, he’s took me out on dates etc and told me he’s falling for me, the truth is I’m really falling for him but I’m scared. Scared to get hurt again and go through the heartbreak again, trusting somebody new, my mind is a mess! He’s lovely and knows about my ex and says we can take things at my pace but because my ex fucked me up that badly I feel like this new person is off with me, or being weird with me etc when in reality he isn’t it’s obviously all in my head as my head is mashed from my ex! Any advice on how to get through this? I don’t want to push him away incase I get hurt he’s a lovely person. He said he will help me etc but I just can’t get past this barrier I’ve got up – thank you in advance X
