Hi, Private Post Please

Me and my ex are split. The children (2 of them) reside with him. I have the children 3 nights one week, 4 nights the next and so on – so we have them completely equally. We go halves on school trips, uniform, sports clubs etc.
He has made an application to CMS and they say I have to pay £40 a week for the children to him. I work full time in one job and have an evening job too on the nights I don’t have the children as I get no benefits etc. He works 20hrs a week and gets child support etc.
I don’t feel.I should be paying him anything… am I being a bitch? I work my ass off all week just to meet my rent and bills and have enough to treat the kids. If £40 a week (£160 a month!) goes to him I will have hardly anything left. That’s my part time job wages automatically gone straight away.
Any advice welcome. Bash away – I might deserve it and need a kick up the bum.

  • If it’s equal you shouldn’t pay anything through CMS have you asked what he put on the claim? It’s tricky with CMS because if nothing is in writing they just take the word of the person claiming benefits for the child as that’s usually the parent the child reside with 😐

  • Doesn’t sound right it should be equal and even if u did have to pay anything £5 per over night stay gets deducted each week so that would be £15 less one week and £20 less the next

  • Have you informed them you have the children 3 nights one week and 4 the next as having them half the time I’m sure means you don’t have to pay maintenance.

  • Is it through cma? Seems a lot of money to me I get 43 a week for my 3 kids and my ex only has them 3 hrs a week x

  • If you have joint custody/care you don’t have to pay, it sounds like he has lied in the claim.

  • No if u have joint custody u shouldn’t pay anything. Nor should he be getting child support..
