Hiya Can I have a ppp

Hi just after a bit of advice. The joys of living in Northern Ireland. So I’m a Protestant and my partner is an atheist but from a Catholic family. I’m currently pregnant with our first baby. My partners mum is very religious and is constantly going on and o about having our baby baptised when he is born. I don’t really want him to be baptised into either faith as j would like him to make up his own mind he is older and certainly do not want him to have any prejudice towards any other religion as we already have enough of that in this country. However we live in a predominately Catholic area and all the good schools nearby are Catholic therefore all his classmates will be making first communion etc. together and he will be left out of this and these occasions are a big deal where we live. Do you think in the long run it would be better to have him baptised because otherwise he can’t make first communion etc. There is one integrated school j the area but it’s not really a good school but there is plenty of integrated secondary schools so it would only be for his primary education. Should I just stand my ground and teach him a bit of both religions. I myself even though I am protestant don’t practice organised religion but still have faith, just don’t see the need to go to church to express it. I just don’t know what to do for the best as I know he will miss out in a lot of social inclusion because of our area. If everyone would just move on from the past wouldnt be a problem ffs maybe one day 🤞🤞 tia xx

  • Stand your ground, it is one event in his life and he then gets to make his own mind up.
