hiya could i have a private post please ….so my daughter is 23 months old has been under audiology fluid in both ears …non verbal no words atall or communication …had speech and laungage they assesed her n recieved report it says her understanding of laugnage coudnt be assesed in clinic as she found it difficult to engage with items for more than 20 seconds and did not follow any adult lead …she didnt follow simple instructions aswell and that her play skills were delayed for her age she did not engage in any fuctional play or use any spoken launguage ….she has been refered to a community pediatrcian not to sure what any of this means or if any one is in the same situation ….thanks

It is fairly routine procedure for development delay…they will now try to determine whether the behaviour (lack of speech, no interaction…) is due to the fluid in the ears or whether there is an underlying issue such as autism or chromosome disorders
