Im 18 years old, weigh 19 stone and my BMI is 53. Is there anyone on here who has had weight loss surgery under 20 years old or has lost lots of weight at this age? I know weight loss surgery isn’t the easy way out. My mum has had a bypass and I have seen how hard it is. I don’t want people to judge me and tell me I’m fat, because I know I am. I’d just like advice about having weight loss surgery so young and if it is the right way to go 😊

  • Could you reply please 😊

I have tried other weight loss method since I was 12. I’ve always been chubby lol but my weight is just ridiculous now. Apparently I don’t have to show them I can lose the weight because my BMI is so dangerously high. I’d just have to do 6 months of assessment I believe which is seeing a physiologist ect. I have tried all different types of diets where I have lost some weight but I just can’t stick to them. It’s so hard. I know people think I’m only 18 so I can’t possibly have tried to lose weight hard enough but I have tried so hard in the past x

  • Because you are so young I would say probably best to start something like slimming world as that’s a life style choice not a diet … You can spend the rest of your life making the right food choices – I personally couldn’t undergo surgery xx

  • I joined slimming world January 2016 when I was 8 weeks pregnant weighing 16stone 4lbs I gave birth in August 2016 and this is me now. Iv lost 5 and a half stone in total. I lost 2 stone 10lbs while pregnant and then lost the rest after giving birth. I got to my target weight of 11 stone in December 2016, and since then I lost a few more lbs, but this is me now and just hoping to maintain, I would highly recommend slimming world to anyone! It’s brilliant no diet, just a lifestyle change forever. I did this is a year. My hubby lost 2 stone before he joined since he’s joined he’s lost another stone. X

  • I do believe that first you would have to show them that you are willing to try and lose the weight on your own, before surgery. My other half is currently doing a detox and has got himself a personal trainer because he was unhappy with his size, so far he’s doing really well and it hasn’t been as hard as he thought xx

  • I have had weight loss surgery if you want to send me a message with any questions you have. I struggle with weight due to a few medical conditions and meds I’m on. I was like you did every sort of diet, slimming world, weight watchers etc etc and lost some weight but went on twice as fast again. I wont dress weight loss surgery up as it honestly isn’t the easiest option and you really need to work at it and go to gym also. I go twice a week.
