Disney is renowned for hidden meanings and easter eggs in movies and shorts, but this new Frozen theory has the internet shook!
Frozen is an amazing movie. It has found it way into the hearts of children and adults alike. With catchy songs, a unique story line and unforgettable characters, Frozen has definitely become a modern Disney classic!
Of course with all the talk about Frozen unsurprising many people started to place certain parts together and make connections between other Disney films.
What follows is a guide to understanding ‘THE FROZEN THEORY’ this helps to explains how Tangled, Tarzan and even The Little Mermaid are all connected to Frozen.
Let’s start at the beginning. In Frozen, we see that the King and Queen of Arendelle, Elsa and Anna’s parents are heading off on a two week journey by sea, not saying where they are going, and never to be seen again (or are they?)
This tragedy happens roughly three years before the events of the rest of the film.
The timeline is very important because, in the real world, Disney released another film three years before Frozen, and that was Tangled.
At the end of Tangled (spoiler alert), Rapunzel and Flynn fall in love and are planning to get married, an event that takes place in the short; Tangled Ever After.
This means that a royal wedding takes place, and mostly likely any other royals in nearby countries will be expected to be in attendance.
Disney theorists all over the internet believe that Anna and Elsa’s parents may have died on the way to Flynn and Rapunzel’s wedding.
We do have proof that these characters do in fact exist in the same world as we see a happy couple heading to the castle for Elsa’s coronation in Frozen, and this couple is none other than Rapunzel and Flynn.
During the beginning of the film The Little Mermaid, we see Ariel swimming around a sunken ship looking for ‘thingamabobs’ – however this theory believes that the ship Ariel is searching may have actually been the ship carrying the parents of Elsa and Anna from Frozen, who were on their way to the wedding of Flynn and Rapunzel from Tangled!
Still following?
On a Reddit post, writer and director of Frozen Jennifer Lee confirmed the parents were indeed on their way to a wedding.
But the plot thickens, what she said happened next adds a whole other twist in this tale!
In fact, the King and Queen of Arendelle did not die right away but were infact were shipwrecked on an island, where had a baby boy, built a tree house and then were horribly eaten by a leopard.
Some eagle eyed Disney fans may find this series of events oddly familiar, well that’s because this is the exact story of Tarzan – which would making him the true prince of Arendelle.
What do you think of this amazing theory?
Are fans just reading too much into the film or could Disney have planned it this way all along?
