My 8-year old daughter googled something inappropriate in her iPad which she’s NEVER done before and I came across it today ?
I stayed calm and tried having a somewhat normal conversation but I am devastated and think it’s traumatic and just sad that she looked it up.
After speaking to her she told me that two children in her class had told her to do it .

I have taken the iPad of her but I don’t think I have had a transparent conversation with her about : porn and sex as I don’t know how to even bring it p

  • With the tv etc these days there are a lot more things that in my era weren’t talked about so it’s just curiosity to be fair. Put parental blocks on and let her know that you can and will look on her iPad to see what she is doing including messaging people etc and other kids parents can see it too etc. She may not realise you can see this and let her know she can ask you (if your comfortable with it) and you will provide answers x

  • Put a patently block on the iPad, most broadband providers will do it as well. Means that no one can access content that is for over 18’s

  • It’s normal for kids to talk & be curious about things. I’d tell your child that what he/she may have seen online isn’t love, just in case later on when they are getting interested in the opposite/same sex, that the person they like doesn’t say “If you love me, you’ll do it with me…” and that kind of thing is for grown-ups to see. Not children.
