My partner and me are both expecting our first baby, was planned and we are so excited. What would you do in this situation though? I felt stuck in the middle as me and partner both work full time Monday to Friday but obv when baby is here il be on mat leave on reduced money. My dad said that my partner needs to start working Saturdays or something to get overtime to save for baby and he is always like no I’m not working Saturdays I work enough during the week it’s my time to rest bla bla, I thought why is my dad getting involved. Anyway today we went out and my partner saw something he wanted but didn’t need and it was £15, I said get it then and he said he can’t afford it! He gets paid every Thursday. I said I hope you won’t be like this when baby is here as il be on reduced money……. what would you do? Leave it as it is? Or convince him into working Saturdays too or talk to him about a diff job for Saturdays only as well as his normal job?? 😬😬😬💷💳💰 he does get paid well and a lot of it does go on the rent but he does have some money to himself

  • I think working full time is more than enough. You should start budgeting now for when baby is and save some off your wages each week/month so you have a contingency. Maybe he can’t afford to spend £15 on something he doesn’t need and would rather wait until it’s something he does. Sounds like he is being sensible to me.

  • I saved up my own wages for when i was on maternity. Buying things in baby sales throughout pregnancy made it easier after the birth. I wouldn’t make my partner work more but he did pay a couple of extra bills (gas & electric) whilst on maternity. When baby was born her £82 a month went on her for all her needs.
