Need your advice ladies. My partner and I have a toddler. We’ve both been christened with me being also confirmed. I go to church when I can but my partner doesn’t bother and isn’t really religious.
When our baby was born I Brough up getting baby christened. My partner said they’d like to wait until baby can make up their own mind. I wanted to have it done straight away. I see a christening as our promise to God to bring the child up in Gods eyes and laws. If the child then wants to carry this on, they then make their own promise to God and get confirmed.
I’ve brought it up a few times and basically got shat on about it and told I was a dick. Nothing really new there.
My Grandparents are quite religious. My Grandma is a woman minister and I’ve always wanted her to christen the baby. She’s not going to be with us much longer due to a long term illness that was kept secret from us. I’d like her to christen our baby before she passes. I’m not sure how to bring this up with my partner as he wants our baby to wait. It’s really important to me that it’s done and sentimental for my Grandma and myself for her to christen our baby. I don’t want a ‘naming ceremony’ either. Any advice?
