Oh okay thankyou.
My lb is 17 days old. Been at urgent care all night (advised by 111) due to him not having a poo for just over 48 hours. Told her I express k to a bottle for him. Straight away she asked if I was on medication which I am 3 iron tablets a day due to hemorrhage after birth. She looked shocked and said that’s such a high dose no wonder he is constipated. I was heartbroken and extremely angry at the same time as the midwives knew I was breastfeeding and that I was on a high dose of iron tablets as we were kept in hospital for 3 days after he was born. I’m absolutely fuming as he’s too young to have any sort of medication to help him poo and he screams in pain when he’s trying 😭😭. Am I just thick and should of known that the iron tablets would pass onto him or should the midwives of told me? The doctor at urgent care gave me the choice of either putting him onto formula straight away or stop my iron tablets and put my health at risk. Those were her exact words 😭. Anyone else been through something like this? I’m furious with the midwives

  • There are other iron supplements you can use and they are safe for breastfeeding. I used spatone. 2 sachets per day in orange juice and no side effects for me or the baby.

  • My son was born at 28 weeks and has had lactulose and suppositries since birth. Can they not give any of these? X
