So I have been together with my husband for over 3 years…
His mom suffers some schizophrenia( they told me it’s post natal depression but I figured it out!) & his youngest brother (32 yr) has some sort of social( mental) problem! So obviously we have never been invited to their house like normal families! He worships his dad & does anything for the middle brother so I have thrown birthday party & Christmas dinners ( multiple) for them( only dad & the brother, those other two would never show up anywhere) and every time gotten them presents. Every time we travelled we brought wine & beer as gift….
The father has only invited us first when they wanted to meet me to a very crappy brunch restaurant & that’s it. Not only we have never gotten any Xmas presents from any of them they showed up to our wedding( town hall, only our families) without a gift. They came to see our baby when we came from the hospital without one flower!! I threw a big half bday party for our daughter & they showed up with a gift less than what my co worker from 2 years ago came with! This was our babies first Xmas and we usually spend the Xmas away from home since my family are not close & his family is so weird & there is never any celebration of any sort! So we went to Spain as usual on dec 5th. They didn’t get anything for our 9 month old daughter first Xmas even though the brother showed up here a week before Xmas & I told him in numerous time that it’s not ok not to get her any gift for her first Xmas ( as a joke) & even I marked a toy on magazine & put it on the table as her wish list! ( we have given this brother 300£ in a card last year for Xmas !) he didn’t get her anything & left!!
Now I’ve reached the point that I hate their guts!! & as a result to that I have so many fights with my husband & feel like don’t want to be with him anymore with a family like this that ignored me & now my baby!! What should I do? I know it’s not his fault but I take it out on him all the time! Like I sort of expect him to hate them too or something( he already agrees with me that the Xmas thing was a bit too much) I really want to confront them & have a huge fight & never see them again! This has become such a nightmare for me that is almost the only thing in my head all the time! I don’t want to forbid my husband to take my baby to them ( every 2,3months) but I don’t want my baby where she isn’t loved or respected! What should I do that is not very unreasonable?
