pp please my littlr boy has been prescribed ventalin but has been given this instead by the pharmacy its called SALBUTAMOL. Im worried and the pharamcy is now shut. it says to give to him 4 times a day and i was going to give it to him tonight before bed but now im not so sure any advice please?? x

Nhs prescriptions generally the generic type of the brand name. For example I take sodium valproate. But my doctors call it epilim. Salbutamol is the name of the drug. Ventolin is the drug brand.
I’m a nurse and they are exactly the same but I’m also a mum of an epileptic child and she has to have ‘brand’ specific drugs as they are deemed to be better!!
It is absolutely safe to use until you can check with the gp if he’s happy to have any branded product xx
I find the salabutamol weaker than the ventolin, they say its the same but im asthmatic and know there’s a difference but to answer your question, yes he will be fine x
They are the same just a different brand name my wee boys get prescribed inhalers and depending what chemist I go to depends what kind he gets xxxx
Salbutamol is ventolin Hun it’s just a generic brand where I work we have ventolin but states on the box and label that it’s salbutamol x
It’s the same medication bit many chemist give you the cheaper products that is why the brand name is slightly different. If you are unhappy go back to the chemist tomorrow and get the one prescribed 😀

Salbutamol and ventolin are basically the same thing , I’m asthmatic and find the ventolin is stronger and helps me better x
I think they are both very similar love, I’ve used both but I personally found the Salbutamol works better for me 🙂 x
