PPP…

4 days ago I gave birth to an amazing little girl, she is my absolute world and I love every inch of her.

As I am sure all new parents experience I am getting little to no sleep each night – since going into labour, 5 days ago, I think I have totalled 4 hours sleep, 2 of which was a nap this afternoon when my OH had his family around.

My issue is, I feel like I am getting zero support from my husband. He spouts good jesters during the day about how we’ll do shifts that evening so we both sleep; evening comes he gets himself ready for bed before anything else, has cuddles with our daughter then gives up when she won’t go down straight away. I then generally can’t wake him for the rest of the night. I can’t trust that he will stay awake to do his share.

Last night he had to get up because the dog wouldn’t stop crying but all day all I’ve heard of how tired he is. You got 5 hours before you were disturbed then you slept on the sofa for another 2!?! I had none. Zero. The only position I could get our LO to sleep in was on her side in our bed so I had to sit up awake whilst she slept. Same story right now.

I don’t know what to do. If I complain then I’m the bad guy. This is our first baby for both of us and so a massive learning curve but surely I can’t be expected to do this every night???

Help please.

  • I did it every night until my daughter was one before my OH decided to get up and fix up. We now have a 3 month old son and it’s exactly the same story. Men don’t understand how tiring it actually is x
