Ppp hi I need advice. My 17 year old niece just text me asking what herpes is. I replied asking what context. She said she has it down below. (She’s been with the same boy 3 years and has only just had sex) anyway i asked have u told us mum she said yes so i said well it’s an sti and I sent her the link to herpes on nhs website. 2 seconds later my sister rings saying why u said all that. Explained I only said the truth and I thought she would have told her. My sister then said well the doctor said it’s brought on by stress… I just said well I just sent the link I don’t know. She’s clearly mad at me. I didn’t mean to upset anyone but surely it’s best to be honest with her if it could be an sti ? Is the doctor right tho can it be caused by stress? I feel shit now 😓

Herpes can be passed over from kissing. It’s cold-saws, so you could easily peck someone that has the virus then perform oral sex and bang its spred between three people. You can carry it for years before having an outbreak of blisters. It’s not as simple as just an sti, a mother could give it to her unborn child without even knowing she carries the virus

Youd think she would google it herself 😂 I suppose it can be dormant though, i wouldnt worry you sent her a nhs link to it and doctor would have gave her medicine even if it was a cold sore. Dont feel bad though!
It’s important for her to know these things, they maybe grim but if she is sexual active she needs to know about it all.
