my neighbours keep complaining about our 19 month old screaming, they’ve been round twice since we moved here last September. The last complaint was him saying his wife was having a nervous breakdown because of it and can we not do something to encourage him to stop. To paint a picture yes, he screams, a lot!! He hates not getting what he wants and he just basically uses it as his communication. We have resorted to controlled crying many nights when he’s up crying because we’ve come to realise he just really wants to sleep but cannot settle despite our best efforts so we have to leave him(with 5 minute check ups) normally settles after 20 mins. I was aware neighbours may hear and I kindly told them what we are doing out of curtesy but they’ve just not understood. Yesterday I had a call from social services and they said that while the call was anonymous they could tell me word for word what the report was, it was my neighbours for sure, I’m really really upset that they would do this, it’s hard enough without this added stress. Fortunately I explained to ss and they aren’t investigating any further but I just don’t know what I’m supposed to do now so I say anything to them or leave it? I don’t feel like I can just keep quiet but I don’t want to make matters worse.
