I am 28 years old, happily married with 2 children.
Me and my husband are adamant we don’t want anymore as life is comfortable with the 2 and I want to focus on a career now.
I have an appointment on Friday at the doctors for my pill review and I was debating speaking with them about being sterilised as I’m rubbish with the pill and nothing else agrees with me.
My family have kicked off and told me it’s a bad idea, and that I wouldn’t be allowed it anyway…but it’s something I really want to consider.
I suffer extremely bad with gestational diabetes so the risk of having another baby could mean I am left with permanent diabetes and I’m not willing to take that risk. My husband doesn’t really like the thought of a vasectomy and I respect that.
Will I be considered for sterilisation or do you ladies think it’s a bad idea too?

Yes I was 28 when I was sterilised I had to have a type of counselling to make sure I was 100% certain I didn’t want more children however I would urge you to think very hard about this as around 4 years after having it done I really wanted another child which is odd as when I went through it I was CERTAIN I wouldn’t want anymore so just goes to show how we can change in time good luck Xx
I regret not having the sterilisation when I had my last c section, my husband doesn’t want the snip but I don’t really want to be pumping hormones into me for the next 30 odd years to avoid anymore babies. We are both certain we don’t want more.
They would prefer your husband to have the snipor see how you feel about mirena coil or rod etc. If you have valid reasons why those things aren’t an option you shouldn’t have an issue. X
I’m 28. 2 kids and in being steralised next month. I don’t want anymore.. No counselling or other. Quick referral from docs and now just to wait for my monthly to go for the procedure xx
Yes! Just stress how much you want it. I’m 27 with two and they’ve said I can have it. My partner is the same and doesn’t want it but we don’t want more so I’m happy to have it done. Good luck. Xxx
If you are both 100percent certain that you don’t want any more babies then I say yes ask your doctor. Although it would be easier for your husband to have the snip but if he doesn’t want to then that’s ok
Given you have 2 children and a history of troubled pregnancy they may well consider you for the snip. If not wait 2 years as Drs tend to be hesitant on the snip for under 30’s x
I’ll be being sterilised after my third whenever I have them x
