Just looking for some advice on what the right thing/best thing to do is!

Today when picking my daughter up from school (she’s in yr R age 4) she brought out a keyring from her coat pocket.
I asked where she had got it from and she told me truthfully that she had taken it off one of her classmates book bags.
I was shocked as it’s totally out of character for her to do something like this and asked why she had done it. She told me it was because she liked it.

When we got home, I didn’t shout or be angry but explained that she cannot do it this, and how upset the child must have felt when they realised it was gone – she was very upset and told me she would it put it back the next morning and not do it again.

What shall I do next?
Tell the teacher to make sure she does? Tell the child’s Mum that it was her? Or just let her put it back herself and trust her word.

I’m really upset by what’s happened as like I said, it’s so out of character for her. I don’t want her to get a reputation or be disliked by any of the parents etc. Help!
