My brother is suffering really badly from depression at the minute, he has tried to commit suicide before when he was a teenager, he’s not had a shower in 3 months and only left the house twice to go to the doctors, he’s not interacting with anyone and started off having suicidal thoughts, then delusional, now he’s hearing voices telling him to Kill himself, he’s not interested in his kids he adores anymore. Not eating right, lost a lot of weight and is compulsive buying stuff that won’t ever get used. Crisis team have put a support plan in place and they’ve got his meds changed. But I don’t feel like he’s getting the help he really needs as they are like make sure you get a shower today you will feel better. Yes he might but it’s being 2 months he just can’t. Anyone have any idea how I can help him or what to do. He’s normally a bubbly family man and it’s awful seeing him this way… thanks

There is not enough beds in psychiatric units unfortunately, its a complete joke of a system. My sister has been in hospital multiple times with attempted overdoses and sent home 70% of time. Its ridiculous. Youve really got to push them to do something, could you get your brother up to a&e? The hospital will have their own ‘on-call’ psychiatrist. Even phone NHS24? The number is 111.

Does your brother have a cpn or any other form of help? You should contact the crisis team yourself and tell them how concerned you are about your brother, and everything thats going on. Wish you both all the best, i know how frustrating and hard it is for you xx
Can you reply please to my post. I don’t know what a cpn is yes it was me that rang crisis team with his concent finally as they refused to talk to me without it. He’s waiting for counselling to come through although he can’t tell you what’s up with him. Crisis team said he wouldn’t benefit been put into hospital what he feels he needs as they are so busy but they feel he will benefit with daily visits. He’s just so bad and it’s not enough. He’s staying in a room with the curtains shut and a bed in there laying staring at the ceiling. Only time he’s going downstairs is to smoke outside in the back yard. He doesn’t even look at you when you walk in the door. It’s so sad when your begging for help litrally and no one is listening and he’s just getting no better … thanks
My Husband suffered badly after the death of our Daughter. It took me ringing our Doctors surgery in tears and begging the Doctor for help for him to be seen and then given the help.
