Quick question for you lovely people! If you don’t mind of course ☺️
Me and my partner plan to get married next year, we have a son together and I have a son from my pervious relationship. My eldest son doesn’t see or have any form of contact with his dad after he was violent towards myself, our son and deemed a high risk to children by social care. My eldest has asked that when me and my partner get married, he has the same name as us too. My partner has also said he would love to adopt him.
Here’s the issue. I know for a fact that my ex will not allow for our sons name to be changed and I’m almost certain he won’t allow him to be adopted either. Is there anything I can do? He has no contact, at all, pays nothing towards him, but does have parental responsibility because he’s on the birth certificate.
My son knows that my partner isn’t his dad, but he wants more than anything for him to be his “dad” and to have the same name as me and his brother when we are married.
