Sorry for the long post – My toddler son was recently on my mother in laws iPad (she allowed him) as he goes on YouTube and the camera taking selfies (lol) and he brought it over to me. He’d gone on her Fb messenger and there was messages to/from my husbands ex girlfriend (his first girlfriend – not recent they broke up 18 years ago). I didn’t read, I just went to close them before my son messaged gibberish. I didn’t want to read them, But one caught my eye. My mother in law was telling her how she wishes that she was her daughter in law, and she’ll always be her daughter to her. I closed it and carried on but I’m really hurt. I’ve always got on well with my mother in law (my husband and I have been together for 15 years). The rest of the family don’t seem to like me but I’ve never give them reason to feel that way. I’ve done the exact opposite – I’ve gone out of my way to be liked but it just hasn’t worked. It hurts a lot but I’ve just accepted it. While I think my MIL prefers my brother in laws girlfriend, I always thought we had a good relationship until now. I’ve had an awful year, but so has my MIL (family deaths, husbands illness and more deaths in the near future) and I don’t want to add to it. What do I do? Do I talk to her? Do I tell my husband? Do I just accept this and move on? I’m really really hurt, but I don’t want any drama/fall outs, but I don’t like not telling my husband either. I wish I could have not seen it 😞
