Thanks. Anonymous please. My child has just turned 13. 6 months ago she finally gave up sucking her thumb. A new child has just arrived at her school and has managed to get my daughter sucking her thumb again as she does. Not sure what to do. Do others have teenage children who thumb suck

  • My daughter took to sucking her thumb when I took her dummy away. She sucked her thumb right up to 14 when she had a brace and then she stopped. I myself still occasionally do it. Or so I’m told when I’m asleep and stressed or poorly. I think I only stopped when I moved in with my hubby at 17 lol x

  • Not quite 13 but My daughter is 12 next week and has always sucked her thumb since coming off the dummy as a baby. I was always told the more u pay attention to it the more they do it she dose it more when she’s chilled out or tired I wouldn’t worry bout it x

  • I sucked my thumb until I was 21 and only stopped after I had a baby myself. My best friend still sucks her thumb now at 26. Everyone is different and if it’s not causing her any problems dental wise I wouldn’t worry x
