Hi can this be a private post please? Not really looking for advice but more to create awareness.
Earlier in the year I had my son by c section after suffering with pre eclampsia, 3 days after he was born I started coughing up blood stained mucus, midwives and doctors ignored this saying it was just from a cough I had, and then a few hours later I went into respitory arrest. I woke up on critical care and following a scan on my heart it showed I was in a heart failure range.
Fast forward a few months and my heart function has thankfully improved (no longer in heart failure 🙂 ) although I haven’t yet been discharged from cardiology, my heart doctor agrees a lot of warning signs were ignored by maternity, that I was treated quite badly and she is going to be compiling a report to show where it went so wrong.
To anyone suffering with pre eclampsia tho I just want to say trust your instincts, I knew something wasn’t right. I told them I was too swollen, they brushed this off as pregnancy related swelling, I warned them about the blood stained mucus they ignored it, and all it wouldve took in the many hours and days I spent in the hospital in the run up to my son’s delivery was for one person to take a stethoscope and listen to my lungs for a few seconds and that could’ve potentially prevented me nearly losing my life.
Anyone suffering with pre eclampsia please demand that simple check, it takes just seconds but it could save an unnecessary strain on your heart ♡
