Can anyone help me please?

My partner has depression and aniexty. His been signed off work for almost a year. His veen on lots of different medication and attends regular counseling sessions (individual and group) he is still pretty bad and even suicidal at times and is not improving. He recives ssp which isnt alot. He also has his own mental health carer.
His doctor and councillor have told him he cannot return to work yet and not for a while but wont sign him off long term, only monthly. We are struggling fiancally, i am working all hours possible and trying to keep the family going (mum of 3 young kids) including cooking and cleaning and school runs and trips out. I struggle emotionally and physically at times but do it for my family.

I have been told by a friend if he quits his job and tells them he has done it due to his mental health issues (that he can prove) we maybe able to get some extra help fiancally. Does anyone know if this is true. Thanks.
