  • I been put to sleep quite a few times… depends what it’s for.. I’ve had 3 lots of key hole, my tonsils out, and had general anaesthetic for dental work…

Each time I’ve woke up and it felt like I had only been asleep for 10 mins.. you will feel groggy and tired and possibly a bit sicky after..when I first woke it took about 20mins/half hour to not feel like I was high.. my advice would be to rest and drink water.. you’ll be hungry when you wake too.. I ate so much, even after having my tonsils out coz I was starving…. it effects everyone differently.. but your doctor/surgeon will explain everything to you, and if you have any concerns do ask as many questions as you want.. you’ll be fine xx

  • Don’t worry.. I felt like this too before my gallbladder removal but it wasn’t bad. One minute I was sitting talking away to the surgen and anesthetist while getting a line put in my hand, the next I was out for the count couldn’t even remember the last thing said and when I woke up it was a bit blurry at first but instantly knew where I was but panicked a little because I was sore, they quickly dealt with that though. You might feel a little short of breath and have a dry throat when you wake up but that’s because they have to give you oxygen to breathe while you’re out and you’ll have an oxygen mask on, you’ll probably feel sluggish for a day or so after too, all depends on what type of surgery youre having too. (If tummy then youll prob feel like a big brick has been put in your tummy for a day or two. You’ll be fine, my health isn’t the best and I’m a hefty size and got through it okay 🙂

  • It’s the best sleep you will ever have. They give you a strong pain killer that makes you drowsy and then they will slowly give you the stuff that puts you to sleep they will make you count back from 10 and before you can finish you will be asleep. It’s nothing to panic about it’s completely painless but you will have a groggy throat as they give you breathing tube. But it’s genuinely nothing to be afraid of.
