Can I have a ppp?
I’ve been with my boyfriend a couple of years I live in a council house an dont work due to having a young child an he works full time an owns his own house so mortgage, council tax etc. He stays over at my house a few nights a week an sometimes i might stay the off night at his with my son. I think someone is watching my house like dwp?? There was a car which was parked facing my house watching it an then followed me but ive recently fell out with someone so think they have reported me saying someone is living with me even though he’s not!! Does anyone know the official rules for dwp on someone staying over?? He doesn’t pay nothing in to my house he just stays a few nights a week. I thought it was ok for someone to sleep over an didn’t matter on the number of nights it’s to do with if they pay in to the house I.e buys shopping etc …. I’m worrying a little bit now as I don’t think I’m doing anything wrong but I dont know the official dwp rules ….. x

I believe the rules are that nobody can stay over at all anymore. Don’t hold me to it just what I saw on a post a few months back Even though he may not pay anything towards your home I don’t think it’s allowed at all anymore
As long as they stay over for even one day a week you have to declare it! All changed apparently, I had the same with my partner last year and he was interviewed and they said all this even though it was literally just staying overnight, no contribution to the house ect 😒 bastards they are!
I was reported when my parents stayed overnight to look after my kids for me to go to work , by some jealous arsehole…. the official stance in my area is no overnight stays:/ xxx
You can have someone stay over as many nights as you wish as long as they are not financially contributing to your household. Fact he has his own home and pays council tax to that address is more than enough proof to show he doesn’t live with you. Xx
Technically there isn’t a set rule it’s more to what is contributed to the household if he pays in then he needs to be declared if he doesn’t then you need to keep proof that he pays for his own place
Don’t know what area you are all from but from my area (Luton) they are only allowed to stay 3 nights a week xx
In the north east your only allowed for someone to sleep twice a week.
I had an interview last week, I was told that even if your partner stays one day a week you need to declare it x
There is no set nights. If they think hes stayin they wud want proof of his income where his bank statements. If you have nothing to hode tho dont worry xx
He can stay anytime he wants asking as he is not contributing to the house and u can prove it even a takeaway is classed as contributing
I was told no one is allowed to stay over I don’t know how true it is xx
I always thought it was 3 nights a week u could have someone stay any more than 3nights a week u have to declare it x
I think it depends what area you live in as here in Cambridgeshire you are allowed 2-3 nights
If on income support no1 can stay over at all. I got told this wen me and kids dads split.
You are no longer allowed people to stay over night if you do have people stay you are no longer classed as a single parent xx
If you claim as single (lone parents) it’s no nights at all. It’s all change check the dwp website
Absolute joke that they dictate who can stay in your house and how often when expenses are not being contributed to!
When I got with my now husband he could stay 3 nights a week until he was classed as living with me
The rules are you can have someone over. Whether they are friend relative or lover.
As long as they can prove that they have a property of their own and can provide proof of rent or mortgage there shouldn’t be a problem if it comes to an investigation.
Things that can cause problems for you if you are under investigation are bizarre.
If you’re seen shopping together, if you are seen hanging out their washing.
Holding hands in public, showing affection in public. All can have negative effects on an investigation, even though there are no rules regarding being in a relationship.
What they are looking for is to trip you up with regards to the words single and alone being used in your claims. You’ll hear ppl saying I’ve been told it’s a huge no with regards to having ppl stay or it’s 3 days. When in fact there is no concrete rule. And the ppl being asked don’t actually know themselves and it’s a case of what’s been used over years.
Where i am in kent its 2 nights a week but no bill contributions
I heard no one could stay over at all now don’t know if same all places though.
Your only allowed 1 person 3 times a week….
I was told I was allowed people to stay over??
im in scotland and allowed someone 3 nights
No nights at all
