Can I have a Ppp

My 2yo blatantly refuses to brush her teeth. She sucks the tooth paste off and says “finished”

Iv tried different tooth paste.
toothbrushes with favourite characters on.
Even attempting to get her older sister to do them but no.

It gets to a point to where I have to pin her down and get her worked up to do them properly (which I hate to see her worked up or having to pin her down)

Any advice or tips please

Thank you

  • Can you reply to my post please.

I will give it a try about brushing her favourite teddys teeth at the same time – it maybe just a case of letting her grow to do it, she does only turn 2 next week.
I don’t think she would understand a reward chart she would just argue with me to stick the stickers on πŸ™ˆ

  • Try the oral b app my 3 yr old is exactly the same and after buying numerous different toothbrushes singing songs talking about what she’s eaten that day ive found this app really helps it has a timer for the 2mins they brush for and shows a picture of different disney characters appearing whilst theyre brushing they then get stickers to go in a virtual sticker book each time they brush im using it for my 6 year old too and they both love it

  • At 2 years old parents should be brushing children’s teeth. It’s always difficult at that age but persistence is key. They may hate it now but if teeth are neglected, they will hate it even more if tbey develop toothache from caries.
Tickling is always a good one to try. Have 2 toothbrushes also. One for adult and one for child.
Dental chechups will be even more crucial now to check no cavities are developing. Good luck πŸ‘

  • I was in exactly the same position as u when my daughter was the same as yours . It was awful : literally had to have 2 of us holding her down . That’s how bad it got !
Eventually after trying everything I went and bought the oral b toothbrushes with the replacement heads. You can also download the app . I wrapped the toothbrush up and made a letter from Santa saying how he was worried her teeth were going to turn black & that he’d made her a special brush . This actually worked ! We started letting her brush her own teeth with us next to her and now she allows me to do it . It’s made a huge difference to her teeths appearance !
I used to get so stressed out about this as I was so worried she would end up having bad teeth . But this toothbrush and the Santa letter worked wonders for me x

  • If you speak to your dentist im sure they’ll agree it’s fairly normal and they will grow out of it, routine and persistence! Iv had it with all of mine and I have literally had to hold them between my legs on the bathroom floor to get them done! It’s awful I know but it won’t last forever unfortunately it’s just gotta be done, try a trip to choose a new toothbrush, a mild toothpaste and a little mirror, my little boy used to sound like we were really hurting him the mirror was a distraction “wow look at those sparkling teeth” can you see?” we brush to get rid of the “sugar men” they eat our teeth whilst we’re sleeping- brutal I know, they only eat teeth tho πŸ™ˆ it’s defo a stage they go through cos all of mine are now brilliant at cleaning their teeth the 3 year old not so much I have to do them for him then he has a turn and I’m just starting the drama with our 10month old… It gets easier πŸ™‚

  • I had this with my 5 yo a few year ago. I ended up buying those tablets from dentist that they chew and it turns their teeth purple and got her to brush it off in the mirror.

  • We tell our just turned 2 year old to show her teddy or toy how she does it, or get her her own toothbrush and let her do her toys teeth while you do hers. Works well unless she’s over tired x

  • Maybe try turning it into a game? Brush you’re teeth (or get an older sibling) at same time and say let’s see who can brush the longest? Make it fun x

  • My sons 2 he’d prefer to eat the toothpaste too . I’ve found it easier to do after a bath when he’s wrapped in the towel so he can’t wriggle /run away .. making loud animal noises πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ (don’t ask) or getting him to laugh so he shows me his Peggy’s .. make a fuss when it’s done . He doesn’t need telling now he knows when we go in the bathroom after Brecky or when he getting Jarmies on for bed he’s getting his teeth done .

  • When we were kids
And we did stuff like that

My mum cracked open the medical encyclopaedia

Maybe not so young as 2

How about instead of letting her do them herself.
    Do them for her ???

She’ll soon start doing them properly
