Can I have a private post please in mums advice.

I’m currently a single mum on maternity leave from my full time job. I normally earn around £900 before tax which I was being paid for by statutory maternity pay and company maternity pay.
This has now dropped to around £700 due to coming to the end of CMP.
I applied for working and child tax credits and was told I was eligible until 3 weeks later they sent me a letter to state I live in a universal credit area, so couldn’t claim them. I have now applied for this and have an interview Monday.
I have never claimed benefits before and have no idea how this all works.

I live with parents but my outgoings (for various reasons) are very high and I’m already experiencing a shortfall of £150 a month and I’m worrying it will get worse if the maternity pay goes down any further.
My only alternative is to go back to work full time but then I would have to pay out for full time child care for my 7 week old baby.

Is anyone else in a similar situation? Did you receive universal credit to top up the wages your missing?
If this gets declined what else can I do?

Thankyou and sorry for the essay.
