Can I have a private post please. My friend is currently on the depo injection. She’s just been prescribed penicillin as she has tonsillitis.
She is wondering if this will affect her contraception and if any other ladies have been in this situation! She has researched into it and up to now it doesn’t look like this type of antibiotic actually affects the depo, she just wanted to double check.

Although it says it doesn’t, I fell pregnant while on antibiotics and depo so I’d advise to take extra precautions x
They say antibiotics can cancel out the pill but not sure with the depo, I would advise her to be safe while on them just to be sure x
No it doesn’t.
The contraception you take orally can be affected because if you d+v as a side effect then it can make the pill not work
Not sure but use condoms whilst on the antibiotics and for 7 days after just to be on the safe side
Yes it will, use condoms as well if the need arises. I am on the depo too x
Doctors normally will say if it has any effect on contraception x
