Can I have a private post…
The father is on the BC.
My children have a double barrelled surname…he doesn’t see the children, doesn’t pay etc so I want to change their surname to purely mine…
I don’t technically know where he lives, don’t really want to contact him as he will cause a fuss just for the sake of it even though he doesn’t really care. I know you can change a child’s surname by deed poll without the father’s permission if you write a letter explaining why and how long he has been absent for. Just wondering if anyone has done this and how long was the father absent for? X

Think the child’s father has to be absent out of the child’s life for 5 years and if not you have to ask father for permission until child is 18 x
