Can I have another private post please. My partner is self employed and doesn’t get much money and money he does make goes back into the shop. I work part time and also get child and working tax credits. I pay him £400 a month for his shop rent and a loan he got to set it up and pay all the bills, food and for meals out etc but a few weeks ago he said he asked me if I could send him more money for himself. Do you think this is fair seen as he already gets £400? It’s not my problem he doesn’t get much money from the business and we have argued about this a lot as I think it’s not worth carrying it on if he’s not making enough to even pay the rent but he persists on carrying on hoping things will improve. I just feel like we are losing £400 a month for nothing.

  • Reply to my post please… I send him £400 which is £260 shop rent and the rest is for the loan he’s paying off. The money he gets for selling stock goes back into the shop to buy more stock and the shops electric he uses.

  • I don’t think u should be giving him more for himself no. I think all left over money should go into the family. If it’s really not working to look at other ways or you going full time, or him extra work and you in the shop the hours you don’t work. It’s about supporting one another yes. Not just handing over money to him cos he wants a lil extra. Many of people work for bills and rent, being left with nothing at end of month. It’s life tell him 🤷🏻‍♀️

I would say the working tax credits etc is for all the family

  • If the shop isn’t making any profit then he may want to consider closing it if your having to pay for everything then surely your at a loss really ??xx
