Cann i have a pp please for my friend

Help:( im stuck in a relationship cycle with a man for the past 5 years… weve broken up 4 times and each time we break he begs me to get back with him. It always starts off amazingly well and he seems to be the best boyfriend but around 4/5 months in he just completely changes:( hes verbally abusive, hes agressive and violent and if i stand up for myself he manipulates me to make me feel im in the wrong until i back down:( he makes no effort with me, and treats me like im a nucience:( we are at the point again for the 4th time where we are close to splitting up… he promises every time we get back together that he will get anger management, or councelling but it never happens.. i love him but sometimes i feel im in love with the man he pretends to be at the beginning and that maybe that man doesnt really exist:( we both have kids who are very attached to each other. Ideally id like him to stick to his word and get the help and make it work with me.. but i just dont know if i am wasting more time.
