Hey can I have a post please. I know this may be a sensitive topic so please know I really do only have the child’s best interest at heart. My friend (very close but only friends a few months) has a three year old. Basically I think he may be autistic, I’m no professional or anything but he is showing all the signs of autism. I have a few autistic cousins and a few friend with autistic kids and he reminds me of all of these people in many ways. My question is should I say it to my friend? He is a healthy child so never has to go to the doctors and has all his vaccinations etc so there’s no reason for him to go see a doctor for them to discover it. My friend is a lovely person and a great mother but she has learning disabilities and I don’t think she has ever even heard of autism or just doesn’t know what it is. I know what sounds crazy but it’s true. Should I suggest she brings her son to see someone or just let things be? He is a lovely child but I am very certain he may be autistic. He doesn’t even talk, not one word.. no other child will play with him because he just pushes and hurts people and doesn’t understand when people cry or when his mother corrects him etc. He doesn’t smile or wave if you smile or way at him.. he doesn’t get upset if you give out to him etc. There are many more things that I have noticed too, my daughter is only one and she is actually a lot more advanced than him.. I know every child is different but surely there just be something wrong? We also go to play group and even there he is probably the only one the mothers don’t like and none of the children will play with. He really is a lovely child but he just doesn’t talk or have any emotions almost. Any advice and please just know I’m only asking because I really do have the child’s best interest at heart. Thanks x
