Hi again! I know you’s are very busy with posts but could I possibly have one please. I’m 37+3 and I have gestational diabetes. I am being monitored at the hospital 3 times a week and next week when I’m 38 weeks they are going to start giving me sweeps as they would rather I delivered sooner rather than later. With my first baby I had an emergency c section as my waters broke and only got to 2cm before my daughter’s heart rate started to dip. Really desperate to have a vaginal birth this time! Anyone have any success stories with sweeps?

  • Sweeps are effective if the midwife or consultant isn’t afraid to have a good rummage round….I had a sweep with my son at 39 weeks, it wasn’t very good…more of a half hearted feel round 😕 I then had a sweep done by the consultant at 39+6 she really went to town 😂 I had a Chinese that night, went to bed @11:30 turned over in bed @12 both sets of waters went (went into hospital due group b strep for antibiotics) didn’t have a single pain or ache till 4:20, mild aching…full labour started 5:30 he came 6:18 in the morning!!! 🤗🤗
