Hi, can I have a post please? I have 3 children and would like to be sterilized as my family is complete, been with my husband for 10 years. I’m 28 but heard you have to be 30! Has anyone been sterilized younger? Also been told that some people put on lots of weight afterwards! Has anyone got the pros and cons. Thanks

I’m 33…100% certain that I don’t want anymore. I took all 3 of my kids with me to doctors, cos my health visitor said I might have a fight on my hands. I was 28, doctor just kept asking me if I was sure, asked my partner if he was sure and put the referral in.
I am 40 and my GP won’t sterilise me – they’ve said they will always try and talk the man into having a vasectomy as that can be done under local anaesthetic x
I went through a tough time as was ment to be sterilised when I had my 3rd child (I was 31) I was having planned section but my daughter ended up being premature and I had her at 33weeks by natural birth in the end as it happened so quick so didn’t get my sterilisation! I went to docs at my 6week check up and the referred me back to hospital and they agreed I could have it I signed all paper and was waiting for a date etc only then 3 weeks later I received letter saying I had now been rejected as I had t been on long term contraception (marina coil) I said no and tried to appeal but they wasn’t having it!! I was gutted
Hiya 😊ive just had a 14 week old baby, ive got 3 children now, im 26. Had to have them all by c-section, the day before my c-section i had to have my pre op, it was then that i mentioned i wanted to be sterilised as i don’t want anymore children and also didnt want to be on contraception as the rod/pill and injection didnt help with my migranes and had weight issues on them. Now i dont know what its like for those who had a sterilsation after a normal birth, but for me i had it whilst i had my c-section and it was the most excruciating pain ive ever had to indulge in my entire life and i have a very high pain threshold, recovering took ages and i also had to look after 3 kids whilst recovering. I wouldnt recommend it but everyone is different. They didnt say i was too young as they said “my family is now complete” plus ive had a previous termination. I hope this helps. Also ive got kidney stones and had quite a few infections the sterilsation couldve contributed to this 😣
Pros and cons??
Pros: no more babies, no more getting fat via birth control lol.
Cons: chance you could still get pregnant (rare) and itd be an ectopic pregnancy, and also the pain that comes along with it (worser for a woman than it is a man) x
I had 3 kids and was sterilised at 27.. I waz adamant. . The best thing I ever had done. . If they refuse get your fella to go for vesectomy. .
My sis in law had baby number 3 via c section and asked to be sterilised at the same time as her family is now complete. They did it. Shes in her mid 20’s. Ive not ssked her about the cons though so I cant answer there x

They wouldn’t do it for me im 25 got two kids and adamant I don’t want anymore but bcoz I’m 25 they wouldn’t do it after my second section 🙁 said I have to be 30 x
