Hi can I have a pp please. Just looking for advice, me and daughters dad have split, well he left without warning. We’re in a private rented house that I can’t afford on my own even though I’m working full time. At the minute he’s paying the rent, but he’s telling me I need to find somewhere else to live if I can’t afford to pay rent and all bills on my own. Am I right in thinking he has a legal responsibility to our daughter to help keep a roof over her head, he knows I can’t afford it all on my own. He’s the one who chose to leave, so am I supposed to cause my daughter more stress and upset by leaving her home? I’m so confused and don’t know where I stand or what my rights are so any advice would be welcome. I’m not saying I’m expecting him to carry on paying the rent so I can live here rent free, but surely we need to compromise and he needs to help me out a bit given the circumstances?
