Hi can I have private post please .

Hi all
Just looking for everyone’s opinion and advice really . I have 2 children and work in a school so have all the school holidays but the money is not the best due to holidays . I have just completed a degree which allows me to apply for more demanding jobs and of course more money . My partner also works and gets a good wage . The question I want to ask is how do parents find working full time and working throughout school holidays . I want to apply for new jobs for the money aspect . Some jobs I’m qualified for are double my wage now but obviously I will be spending less time at home . Basically i don’t want to look back with a bigger bank balance and let my children down as a parent if that makes sense . But then on the other hand I think other parents work demanding full time jobs and their children are doing fine . I’ve asked my children who are age 9 and 10 and they say they love spending the holidays with me , but I’m thinking more money more luxuries for our family .

What are your thoughts please
Thank you x

  • Can you reply .

Thanks all for comments I have family who could have them some of the time . So childcare wouldn’t be a problem . I’m just thinking what is the best for the future . They are growing up so quick and I know I don’t want this job forever xx

  • You would have too look into the cost off childcare for holidays and if you have someone to look after them if they become ill or are off for random days eg an election and school is a polling place or if the weather is bad and school is shut. I think the kids are at an age where in a couple off years they are going to be wanting to go out just with their mates anyway. Only you can your family can really decide but for me happy Mum happy kids

  • At 9 and 10 they’ll be fine. My mam worked full time out of necessity since I was 5 my sister was 18mths and we didn’t suffer. Plus they’re getting to the age you’ll be cramping their style soon.

  • You’ll need to look at the cost of childcare and not seeing your children as much vs a bigger salary. I ended up patting over £1200 for 6 weeks part time childcare (for 2 children for 30 hours a week) I ended up spending more on childcare than I earn and missed out on making memories with my children.x
