Hi, could I have a post please?

We have a 20 month old daughter who recently has become a nightmare at bedtimes. She gets hysterical and recently even if we bring her into bed with us she still refuses to go to sleep. She also appears sleepy and then all of a sudden is wide awake. We have tried controlled crying but it just doesn’t work and I refuse to leave her hysterically crying. O don’t mind if she’s just fussing a little bit but not when she’s obviously upset. My husband and I are exhausted and just don’t know what to do and it has started causing arguments between us. We are due baby number 2 at the end of the year and I am starting to panic about getting our daughter’s sleep back in to some kind of normal pattern. We try to do the same bedtime routine each evening with the exception that some evenings I am at home as well and others I am at work. To top it off, my husband has told me that neighbours have started banging on the walls which is now stressing me out even more. I have spent the evening in floods of tears so any advice would be much appreciated xx

  • I could have written this. My daughter is also 20 months and recently she just screams for me. Last night she went to bed after and hour and half fight to then wake up at about 1.30 and no go back to sleep. I don’t know what to do its as if she is scared of something. Tonight we left the door open (have always pulled it too when she is in bed) and put some lullabies on and this seemed to calm her down. Xx

  • Aww bless her, would a nice warm drink settle her down? Is she constipated or teething? Does she have any kind of temperature? Maybe you could try a night light in a room or peppa pig or somthing on a tv she can listen to maybe that will take the attention off the noisy neighbours once she is asleep switch it off? She obviously isnt liking somthing in the room and maybe its as simple as its now to dark/warm for her xx
