Hi, could I have a pp please? I am currently 14+4 with my first baby and yesterday had a fall so attended the maternity day unit to be checked over and was told I am rhesus negative so need to go back today for an anti D injection. This is the first I’ve heard of being rhesus negative and the midwife advised me not to worry as it does not effect the first pregnancy but could cause problems for any future pregnancies. However last night when I got home and looked into it I realised this technically wouldn’t be my first pregnancy as I lost a baby at seven weeks quite a few years ago now but did not receive any anti d at that time. Will this effect this baby? I will be asking when I attend the unit today but slightly worried now. Thank you.

  • If your midwife is aware it will be in your noted which the on call midwife will be able to see, if they were worried they would have said something to you, try not to panic and relax (easier said than done I know) x

  • Try not to worry too much about it the injection is designed to keep both you and your baby safe. Ask the midwife or nurse to explain it properly to you. I’m also rhesus negative my children are both doing great. Good luck with your pregnancy
